NGO for Underprivileged Children: Building Futures Through Education – Access to quality education remains a distant dream for many children from destitute and economically weak families. Himalayan Lhaksam Cultural & Educational Charitable Society, an NGO for underprivileged children, works to break this cycle by providing not only education, but also stability, care, and long-term support. Founded in 2015, the organization helps children from disadvantaged backgrounds build independent, dignified lives through learning, mentorship, and safe living environments.

Our Founder
Gyeshi Thupten Choeden is the founder of the organization and a native of Khet Village in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. Having grown up close to the realities of life in remote and economically disadvantaged regions, he has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by underprivileged children.
He holds a doctoral degree in Buddhist Philosophy from Sera Jey Monastic University in Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India. His academic background and lived experience shaped a clear and lifelong vision: education should be a right, not a privilege, and must be accessible to every child, regardless of background.
Guided by this belief, he established the organization with a strong focus on long-term educational development rather than short-term relief, aiming to create meaningful and lasting impact throughout a child’s academic journey.
Supporting Education Through Safe Hostels
One of the biggest challenges for underprivileged children is the lack of a safe place to live while studying. To address this, the NGO has established hostels in Tawang, Itanagar, Guwahati, Bangalore, Mysore, and Mangalore.
These hostels provide security, proper care, stability, and emotional support. Beyond accommodation, children receive mentorship, guidance, and discipline, allowing them to focus fully on education and personal growth.
